In China, European Cancer Centers participates to the development of comprehensive cancer treatment centers in the context of a Sino-European public-private partnership. At present, there are 3.2 million new cases of cancer per year in China. Socio-economic and environmental factors have led to a significant increase in the cancer rate over the past 20 years.

Developing the health care infrastructure is a key strategic and social priority for the Chinese government, with the reform of 2009 and the Twelfth Five-Year plan of 2011, which have led to the establishment of a series of measures designed to promote the private health care sector and encourage foreign investment.
