In Tunisia, for example, one in twenty-five women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, with tumors of 1.8 inches on average at the time of diagnosis. The rate of radical mastectomy is 80%, while the rate across Europe is 20%.
It is quite probable that many cases of breast cancer in Tunisia are not diagnosed and thus not treated.
For this reason, it is very important that Tunisian institutions receive the support they need to ensure than its disadvantaged populations have access to the quality medical care that saves lives.
The Foundation will set up digital mammography screening programs as soon as the European Cancer Centers’ Tunisia Center opens.
